Medicare Patrol Volunteers Cut Fraud and Waste

Want to provide an invaluable service to your community? Join Spectrum Generations volunteer Senior Medicare Patrol team and make a difference by cutting down on Medicare fraud and abuse. 

Spectrum Generations, in collaboration with Legal Services for the Elderly, is holding its next 3-day Senior Medicare Patrol training from 8am to 2pm on Thursdays, August 7, 14 and 28 at Spectrum Generations Southern Midcoast ADRC Center located at 35 Union Street in Brunswick (with-in the PeoplePlus building).

This “train the trainer” workshop will give you the tools you need to teach people how to navigate the complex Medicare system and prepare you to do public presentations, provide individualized counseling on Medicare Part D, and in general educate the public about Medicare fraud and abuse.  Breakfast snacks and refreshments will be served,  but we ask that you “brown bag it” for lunch.

Free Benefits Check-up July 23rd, 2014 at the Montville Town Office

Spectrum Generations, central Maine’s Area Agency on Aging and Aging and Disability Resource Center, is hosting a free Benefits Check-up at the Montville Town Office on Wednesday, July 23rd, 9 AM – 4 PM.  A Spectrum Generations Benefits Specialist will be on hand to discuss various programs and services that could help residents of Montville save money in these difficult economic times.  Stop by our table to see if you might qualify for the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, the Medicare Savings Program or for MaineCare.

A Patriotic Sunday at the Historic North Montville Church

The historic North Montville Church will be open for services on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month.  A Patriotic Sunday will be held on July 6 at 3 PM.  Reverend Annie Borriginne of Bangor will be the guest speaker.  The service will beature patriotic music led by Elizabeth Fafard who is formerly of Boston and NH based TB as well as Tremont Temple radio in Boston.  The service will conclude with a strawberry shortcake and watermelon repast.  Donations will be used to help fund the replacement of the roofing system.

On July 20, Carla Ellis and family will lead the music ministry.  Carla's mother, Elizabeth Sullivan will be the guest pastor.  Carla is known for her outstanding voice along with her daughter, Micaela and her dad, Jerry Sullivan.  They have made numerous appearances on stage in both music and acting.

Did you know that just a few hours of your time, once or twice a week, can help seniors remain healthy and independent in their homes? Spectrum Generations is seeking volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors and disabled adults in Waldo County.

Drivers are needed to assist with coverage of the following Meals on Wheels routes out of our Waldo Community Center in Belfast: Lincolnville, Unity, Searsmont, Searsport, Brooks, Belfast. Routes run on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays. Please contact Allison Wood for more details at 930-8080 or

Total time commitment is only 2 to 3 hours per day and drivers are reimbursed for mileage. Must have the ability to lift 25 pounds and a valid driver’s license. Business groups, individuals, families, and college students gladly welcomed to volunteer. Applications for back-up drivers to fill in as-needed are always accepted.

On June 21, 2014, the first official day of summer, Unity Farmers' Market Day goes all-out on our first-of-the-summer Saturday Fair. We will feature the Farmers' Market with great organic produce for sale, plus yoga, kids' games, and grown-up games. We are also lining up musicians and craft demonstrations.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

Come and enjoy free coffee and tea to go with your freshly made crepes that will be for sale. Sit outside at our picnic tables to enjoy the sun and watch the kids (and adults) play and listen to music. There will also be indoor seating in case of rain.
