Stockton Springs attacker still at large

STOCKTON SPRINGS, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Waldo County Sheriffs Deputies are asking the public to help them catch the man who raped a 61-year-old woman in Stockton Springs Monday afternoon.

It was a brazen attack in broad daylight that happened at the womans home.

Resident Sharon Catus said many people do not lock their doors. But since the woman was attacked and raped her home on Monday that has changed.

"Will we be more vigilant? Absolutely. Would I lock my door instead of leaving it open? Absolutely," Catus said.

Authorities said the woman answered her door. The suspect told her he use to rent the house the woman was living in and left some items under the back porch. When the woman walked to the back of the house with the man, he suddenly attacked her.
