The 80th Anniversary Season at the Ogunquit Playhouse kicks off with Always, Patsy Cline

The 80th Anniversary Season at the Ogunquit Playhouse kicks off with Always, Patsy Cline, on stage from May 23 through June 16. This show is told through the letters of star-struck fan Louise Seger, portrayed by Emmy Award winning actress, Sally Struthers. This popular musical, which has enjoyed great success both off-Broadway and across the nation, is based on the true story of Cline’s friendship with Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in l961 and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death. National Charter Schools Week – Maine has joined the movement

In 2011, Maine joined 40 other states in allowing public charter school options for families of all income levels.  On May 1, 2012, the Maine Charter School Commission issued its first application package for potential founders of these new public education options, which are free to parents and open to all children without admissions tests.

The Maine Association for Charter Schools (MACS) will celebrate the great work accomplished by public charter schools across the country, where over 5,000 public chartered schools are serving 1.8 million students.

India Runner Ducks!

India Runner Ducks!

We have just acquired three lovely India Runner Ducks, a male and two females!  Normally we buy birds that are newley hatched but this time we purchased full grown birds off Craig's List.  These are India Runner Ducks which are flight-less which is good since I don't want them to fly away but also bad since if they really need to escape a predatore they might be out of luck!  You must provide them with good housing that is predator proof and you also must provide them with enough water to fully immerse their heads.  This allows them to clean their eyes and nostrils out!  Our plan in getting these ducks is to use them for pest control.  They are very good foragers and seek out slugs specifically.  At the end of this gardening season we will turn them loose in the garden and let them root out any slugs.  This will really knock down the population for next year.  They also are laying very nice large white eggs.  I had one over easy the

Kawasaki. Not the Motorcycle

Kawasaki. Not the Motorcycle

Everywhere I go I run into someone who tells me a story that catches my interest. Ann Hutchins, for instance. We were seated together at the Go Red for Women Luncheon last month when she told me about her grandson Garrett. He'd been very, very sick recently with Kawasaki Disease.

"What on Earth is Kawasaki Disease?" you ask. Precisely what I said to Ann.
