Potluck Turkey Dinner on Thanksgiving Day | Events
The public is invited to a potluck turkey dinner at no charge on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, 2014, at 1 pm by the UU Church of Belfast, 37 Miller Street. Turkey is provided. Guests are asked to bring a prepared dish or beverage to share, but no alcohol. For information about volunteering, contact Arthur Richardson at 342-4649.
This is the fifth Thanksgiving Day celebration the UU Church of Belfast has hosted and it continues as a local beacon for families and individuals looking to party together on the gratitude holiday. Guests in past years have commented of the event, “Tables are laid with boughs and berries, garden gourds and candles. The food people bring can be traditional or unusual fare, but it is always plentiful and special. It is wonderful to be surrounded by community on Thanksgiving.”
Volunteers roast the turkeys on Thanksgiving morning and volunteers carve them up just before 1 pm, laying them out on the buffet tables. Decorators spend a few hours in the morning setting tables and the clean-up crew works for a few hours afterward doing dishes and vacuuming the sanctuary.
All are invited to come on down to the UU church at 1 o’clock this Thanksgiving with a potluck dish or beverage and bring a friend – or the whole family. No reservations necessary.
