Lincoln Mutual to Host Ceremony Honoring Franklin Fire Chief | Events
WHAT: On August, 17th, Liberty Mutual Insurance will host a ceremony honoring Fire Chief Robert W Grindle of the Franklin fire department for his 34 year career of putting out fires with the Franklin Fire Department before they start, through educational programs for Hancock county families and was a driving force for the creation of the Hancock Fire Academy.
WHEN/WHERE: Sunday, August 17th, 2014, at 8:30 A.M., at the Franklin Fire House, located at 1 Firehouse Ln, Franklin, ME 04634.
DETAILS: Since becoming Fire Chief, Robert Grindle has brought the Franklin Fire Department into the 21st century. He was essential in building a new fire house, obtaining new equipment and trucks for the department, and revitalizing the training that all firefighters in the Hancock County received. With more than 150 firefighters having graduated from the Hancock County Fire Academy, this training is essential to the safety and efficient work by firefighters within this region. Robert has also been a regional and national leader for the Boy Scouts of America.
For his dedication to educating the local community about fire safety, Fire Chief Robert W Grindle will receive the Liberty Mutual FireMark Award for Community Service and Public Education, as presented by Liberty Mutual Sales Representative, Matthew Nash, from the company’s Bangor office.
CONTACT: Members of the media interested in attending the Liberty Mutual FireMark Award ceremony may contact Matthew Nash at (207) 577-8799 or Matthew.Nash@libertymutual.com.
About the Liberty Mutual FireMark Award
The Liberty Mutual FireMark Award is presented annually to hundreds of firefighters throughout the country who best represent their communities through courageous acts and who best demonstrate the firefighter’s selfless spirit. And as a local Liberty Mutual FireMark Award winner, Robert W Grindle will be considered for the 2014 Liberty Mutual National FireMark Award. Two national winners – one honored for heroism, the other for community service/public education – will each receive a $10,000 grant from Liberty Mutual for their fire departments.
The Liberty Mutual FireMark Award takes its name from the FireMark, a leaden plate in the form of a Phoenix rising from the ashes, which American fire offices in the 18th and 19th centuries used to mark all the houses they insured.
